The Amazing Health Benefits of the Golden Mustache
Overview
Overview
The Golden Mustache is an incredible medicinal plant with many vitamins, nutrients, flavanoids, phytosterols, and minerals. It is well known for its abilities to reduce inflammation, improve the chance of surving cancer, and even reduce the effects of allergies. This is a short list of what you can find in Golden Mustache plants, and how these chemicals and vitamins can help you!
Quercetin
Quercetin is a flavanoid and antioxidant found in many vegetables as well as the Golden Mustache. Studies have shown the quercetin fights free radicals, inflammation, blood-related problems, allergies, infections, fatigue, arthritis, and possibly even cancer. Quercetin also regulates kinases and phosphotases, which are membranes required for cells to communicate with eachother. The anti-allgernic properties of quercetin are due to the fact that quercetin is an antihistamine (Histamines are chemicals released by the body when it detects a sensitivty, and usually causes bad reactions). Quercetin fights numerous
other conditions, which you can read
about in the infographic at the right.

Kaempferol

Kaempferol is also a flavanoid, and has nearly the same make-up and skeletal formula (with only one less hydroxide anion). Kampferol has been observed to be an antioxidant, to stop cancer cells from forming, to be anti-allergenic, cardio-protective, among other things. According to the Chiang Mi University (Thailand), "kaempferol can help to fight cancer because it reduces the resistance of cancer cells to anti-cancer drugs such as vinbalstine and paclitaxel." One interesting fact about Kaempferol is that it is synergetic with quercetin, meaning that when both flavanoids are present and work together, they are more effective. The Golden Mustache plant contains both quercetin and kaempferol!
Phytosterol
Phytosterols, which are found in the Golden Mustache, are molecules that are closely related to cholesterol. However, because both molecules are absorbed the same way, consuming up to 2g/day of phytosterols is a great way to decrease bad cholesterol levels. Some studies even showed that certain phytosterols can decrease the risk of Alzheimers.
Beta-Sitostirol

Beta-sitosterol is a phytosterol, hence its name. Research has shown that beta-sitosterol is able to decrease cholesterol levels, increase the health of your prostate gland, fight cancer, decrease blood sugar, and decrease inflammation. It is found in the Golden Mustache plant.
